The Austin girls soccer team scored their first win of the season with a 1-0 decision over Fairmont in Austin Saturday.

Freshman Hannah Voogd finished a corner kick from sophomore Brianna Byam to give the Packers (1-4 overall) a one-goal lead in the first half.

“They finally played with some heart and aggression and they finished it,” Austin head coach Josh Dumas said. “Everybody really played well.”

The Packers also had plenty of other scoring opportunities that went just wide of the net and each team had 15 shots.

“We could’ve scored a few more times, but we’ll take the win,” Dumas said.

Austin had lost to Fairmont (1-2-2 overall) to open the season.
