Samuel Charles Tindal, 84, of Brownsdale, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at his home with his family by his side.

Sam was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Austin to Samuel and Anna (Weiss) Tindal. Sam went to Austin High School and then to Austin VoTec. He served in the military for 22 years, was a bike shop owner for 31 years and was a life member of the VFW. On April 14, 1950, Sam was united in marriage to Audrey Crews at Tijuana, Mexico.

Sam enjoyed woodworking, spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Tindal, Brownsdale; children, Pam (Ricky) Culbert, Minnesota Lake, Barbara Tindal, Austin, Charles (Cindy) Tindal, Waltham, Matt (Susan) Tindal, Hayfield; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Bruce (Annie) Tindal, Whittier, Calif., Clifford (Carol) Tindal, Austin, Gene Tindal, Brownsdale.

He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan; parents, Charles and Anna Tindal, sisters, Annaline Houff and Lila Tindal; brothers, Merlin Tindal and Stanley Tindal.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with Father John Traufler officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post No. 1216 and American Legion Post No. 91.

The honorary casket bearer will be Christopher Neal. The casket bearers will be Travis Culbert, Trapper Marshall, Nicholas Tindal, Andrew Tindal and Caleb Tindal
