Salvation Army taking applications for school supplies

The Austin Salvation Army has finished taking applications for back to school supplies. About 281 children in Mower County are in need of school supplies.

Distribution is set for Aug. 30, so the Salvation Army needs donations by Aug. 26. Donations can be made at the Salvation Army office, the Oak Park Mall office, Shopko, the YMCA and Walgreens.

Items needed to help these children go back to school are:

– Notebooks and loose leaf paper, both wide and college

– Pocket folders, all colors and thee ring binders

– Colored pencils and washable markers

– Pencil boxes and zippered pencil pouches

– Protractors, compasses, rulers

– T-30 calculators

– USB flash drives

– Back packs
