Mr. Edge of Racine, Minn., died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at his home from complications of C.P.O.D. following a lengthy illness.
Kenneth W. Edge was born May 8, 1928, in Austin to Maurice Sr. and Caroline (Tesch) Edge. He moved with his family as a young boy to rural Racine where he grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools. He was married on Oct. 15, 1949, in Austin to Eileen D. De Raad. Following their marriage the couple lived in Austin for many years. Mr. Edge was employed as a semi-truck driver, hauling livestock for Darrell Armstrong Trucking in Austin for a number of years. Mrs. Edge was a homemaker. They moved to rural Stewartville where he farmed with his brother Mike Edge, before moving to Racine in 1980 where they have continued to make their home. He was employed for a few years at the Racine Elevator. He enjoyed camping with his family, tinkering on projects with his brothers and especially enjoyed time spent with all his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; four daughters, Rose (Dean) Walk of Colfax, Wis.; Linda (Randy) Wedo of Decorah, Iowa; Sherry (David) Walk of Stewartville; Barbara Hubert of Rochester, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Jensen of Hayfield, Minn. and Shirley Bethke of Waseca, Minn.; six brothers, Chuck of Stewartville, Maurice “Morry” (Jean) of Austin, Jim (Marian) of Grand Meadow, Minn., David of Stewartville, Jerry (Joyce) Hendrich of Minot, N.D., Gene (Frieda) Hendrich of Mason City,Iowa, Jay Hendrich of Rockwell, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Marcus Walk; and his brother, Myron “Mike” Edge.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Racine United Methodist Church with Rev. Glen Holland officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery in rural Racine. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville, Minn. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday morning.
