Ardes Ruth (Peterson) Rote, 90

Ardes Ruth (Peterson) Rote, 90, of Westminster, Colo., passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010, after a short illness.

She was born in Grand Meadow on Nov. 20, 1919, to Albert and Helen (Nelson) Peterson. She attended Grand Meadow school and graduated in 1937. She was a member of the undefeated Grand Meadow girls basketball team. She went to normal school and taught in country school. She married Edgar W. Rote of Elkton, and moved to Salamanca, N.Y., where he worked for the railroad and then moved to Proctor, Minn., where she worked in the library and also insurance. Ed passed away in 1988 and she moved to Colorado two years later.

She is survived by a daughter, Rita (Pete) Benson of Westminster; a son, Barry (Trisha) Rote of Denver; three step-grandchildren; one sister, Agnes Olson, of Grand Meadow; a sister-in-law, Bette (Hedstrom) Peterson, of Grand Meadow; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; an infant brother, Arnold; and another brother, Olander; and two sisters, Mildred Peterson and Gladys Fruth.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
