Richard “Rick” Maas

Richard “Rick” Lee Maas, 59, of Rochester died Thursday, June 9, after suffering a heart attack at his son’s residence.
He was born April 29, 1951, in Hayfield, Minn. He graduated from Hayfield High School. He married Sandra
Wiley on Oct. 18, 1974. She survives. They were married 24 years, and together had three children who survive: Julie (Troy) Kuball of Pine Island, Sarah Maas and Evan Maas of Rochester. He is also survived by two brothers, Jack (Bev) Maas of Parker, Colo. and Tom (Donna) Maas of Austin; a sister, Mary (Robert) Keske of Claremont, Minn.; a significant other, Karen Wallin of Mankato; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dorthy (Petersen) Maas; two brothers, Bill
and Darrell; and a sister, Margaret “Peg” Loverink.
Rick loved hunting, karaoke, metal detecting, and especially spending time with his friends and
family. He always had a good story to tell.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. at Macken Funeral Home. A private burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one half-hour prior to services at Macken Funeral Home. Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com.
