The third time was a charm for the Lyle/Pacelli softball team as it picked up its first win of the season when it beat Mabel/Canton 7-3 in Mabel Monday.

The Athletics (1-13) had lost to M/C (2-12 overall) twice recently, including on Saturday at the Hayfield Invite.

L/P junior Dani Felten had a big day, knocking in four runs, while picking up the win on the mound and the L/P defense committed just one error in the field.

Felten pitched out of a jam where M/C had runners on second and third with no outs by retiring three straight in the fourth inning.

“The girls were focused on all concepts of the game and our pitching was good,” L/P head coach Denny Bray said. “Now we’ve got that first win monkey off our back and hopefully we can keep going.”

L/P scored five runs in the last two innings to take over.
