Rebels hang on to beat St. Charles

The Southland baseball team hung on to beat St. Charles (9-8 overall) 8-7 in Adams Tuesday.
The Rebels (13-3 overall) jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings as Adam Kiefer hit a second inning grand slam.
St. Charles out-hit Southland 8-5, but it couldn’t take the lead.
“We came out strong and kind of faded in the end, but we hung on” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “Sometimes you’ve got to win the games you’re not supposed and I think that’s kind of what happened tonight.”
