Packer tennis team tops Mankato West and Albert Lea

The Austin boys tennis team clinched a fourth place finish in the Big Nine when they beat Mankato West 6-1 and Albert Lea 6-1 in Albert Lea Thursday.
The win over the Scarlets clinched fourth for Austin, which lost to a very similar Mankato West team 5-2 last season.
The Packers have just one more game in their regular season schedule, when they host Rochester Mayo Friday at 4:30 p.m.
“That was a real big win over West and it was good to finish on a high,” Austin head coach Tom Tauchnitz said.
The No. 2 doubles team of Matt Zastoupil and Andrew Heickley gutted out a tough 3-6, 7-5 , 6-0 win against West.
The Packers were able to shake off Albert Lea after playing a full match against West.
Josh Detwiler closed out a big 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.
