The Austin baseball team snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 9-3 win at Faribault (2-9 overall) Tuesday.
The Packers (2-11 overall, 1-10 Big Nine) used five hits to score four runs in the fourth and they drew five walks in the fifth inning to score four more runs to go up 9-1.
“It was a nasty, windy day and we took advantage,” Austin head coach Troy Watkins said. “We put together a nice string of hits in the fourth inning.”
Robert Wahlert scattered four hits and six walks in six innings while striking out seven to get the win.
“Rob had a nice start for us. He was able to make some key pitches in big spots,” Watkins said. “It was good to see him step up when we needed him.”
Austin sophomore Anthony Condit knocked in a run with his first varsity hit in the win.
