Jeanette Barnholtz

Jeanette Hannah Barnholtz, 89, of Austin, died at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie Sunday, May 23, 2010. 
She was born Dec. 1, 1920, to John and Leona (Keverack) Barnholtz in Winona, Minn. Jeanette lived at home until Jan. 14, 1927 when she was admitted to Faribault State Hospital. On Sept. 13, 1976, she moved to Woodvale III in Austin where she resided until June of 1986. At that time she moved into a home in Austin and received SILS services. When the house was sold, Jeanette moved to Pickett Place where she had her own apartment. She lived there from Dec. 1, 1994, until Feb. 28, 2002. She then moved to Birchwood until Feb. 2, 2009, when she became a resident of Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie. An employee of Cedar Valley Services and a member of the Cedar Valley Senior Program and ARC, Jeanette liked doing craft projects, sewing, baking, playing cards, bingo and Winnie the Pooh. She was a very social person who attended People Needing People at St. Olaf Lutheran Church and loved to spend holidays with Becky and Steve Mauseth at their home.
Survivors include her sister, Ella Altoff of Winona; other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery. 
Casket bearers are Sue Martin, Lorraine Byam, Rita Hanson, Kristy Bina, Amy Spinler and Becky Mauseth. 
The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers.
