An Austin man may face charges after he tried to spread fecal material on police officers after being arrested for a DWI Saturday night.
When police arrested the suspect for DWI around 11:37 p.m. on the 200 block of 4th Street Southwest, he told officers that he needed to use a restroom. Police quickly completed a field sobriety test and transferred him to the law enforcement center. Once they arrived, the officers noticed the suspect had soiled his pants. The officers offered him use of a restroom and, their report said, the suspect then tried to spread the waste on police officers and even tried backing into the police officers and rubbing against them.
Police warned the man to be careful with bodily fluids, and the report said the man replied that he didn’t care. He was taken to the jail to clean up. He later refused a breathalyzer.
The police submitted the incident to the county attorney’s office for possible charges.
