Steven R. Nielsen, 65, of Austin died Tuesday morning at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Steven was born May 1, 1944, in Albert Lea, the son of Holger and Katherine (Lorensen) Nielsen. He attended public school in Albert Lea. Steven spent a portion of his life in Albert Lea and the past 30 years in Austin. He worked for Cedar Valley Rehab for many years and retired from Austin Recycling Center. He was very proud of his award for job performance from the recycling center. Steven was very close to the people he worked with.
Steven was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and loved going to games. He was also a big Minnesota Vikings fan. 
Steven is survived by his sisters, Virginia Fiscus of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Shirley Christenson of Albert Lea, and LuAnn (Thomas) Aman of Albert Lea; one brother, Robert (Donna) Nielsen of Albert Lea; sister-in-law Karen Nielsen of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Richard (Eleanor), Marvin (Bunny) and Paul; and brothers-in-law, Donald Christenson, Marvin Whiteside and Cleo Fiscus.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
