Mary Maves

Mary Monica Maves, 79, of Hayfield, Minn., died on March 30, 2010, in Rochester, Minn. 
Mary Monica Hall was born Aug. 13, 1930, the daughter of Elner and Catherine (Judge) Hall in Stewartville, Minn. Mary graduated from Stewartville High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Alvin Maves on July 24, 1951 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Stewartville. In 1954, Mary and her husband started Maves Rest Home, serving the community for 41 years. Mary was a caregiver, Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, member of the Legion Auxiliary for 50 years, active at Sacred Heart Ladies Aid, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing and traveling.
Mary is survived by her husband, Alvin Maves of Hayfield, Minn.; children, Patricia Maves of Rochester, Minn., Alan (Cindy) Maves of Rochester, Minn., Sally (Bill)  Decker of Maple Grove, Minn., Catherine (Randy) Olson of Pine Island, Minn., Monica (Jerome) Leichtnam of Faribault, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine (Paul) Hass of Stewartville, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; two  brothers, Robert and Earl; three sisters, Eleanor, Lorraine and  Lucille.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Second St. NE with the Rev. William Kulas celebrating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in  Hayfield, Minn.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2010, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home at 501 Second St. NW, Hayfield, Minn.
