Two Osage, Iowa, residents died Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident one half mile south of Lyle on Highway 218.

The crash occurred just inside Iowa at 2:08 p.m. as a 2003 Cadillac lost control, entered a ditch, struck a tree and overturned into a small body of water just off the highway, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The driver was David Dunlop, 79, and his passenger was Ann Dunlop, 79.

Law enforcement from both the Iowa and Minnesota state patrols arrived on scene, as did personnel from St. Ansgar, Iowa; Lyle, Minn.; and sheriff deputies from Mower County, Minn. and Mitchell County, Iowa. Gold Cross and Mitchell County ambulance were also at the accident.

The crash is still under investigation.
