Trojans knock Austin girls out of the playoffs

The eighth-seeded Packers had their season end in a 65-29 loss at No. 1 New Prague in the opening round of the Section 1AAA girls basketball playoffs Wednesday.

Austin (5-20 overall) trailed 37-18 at the half and the Packers had 28 turnovers on the night.

“We couldn’t score and they just pushed it out,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said. “They’re a good team and that’s why they’ve got the top seed.”

Autin was led by Babaye Oja, who had 10 points and seven rebounds, Kayce Lukes had nine points and Bri Mayer had seven points.

New Prague (18-9 overall) was led by Hannah Stroup, who scored 15 points. Maggie Weiers and Maggie Seter each scored 12.
