The Austin Packer dance team came through with a solid finish at the Class ‘AA’ state high kick precision meet in Target Center in Minneapolis Saturday.

Austin made it to the finals and took fourth out of 12 teams, finishing behind the champions of St. Cloud Cathedral, second place Academy of Holy Angels and third place Totino Grace.

“The team pulled out their best performance of the season and we were really hopeful that we’d place in the top three, even in a field of very strong teams,” Austin head coach Jennifer Sims said. “We didn’t earn the state medal we had hoped for, but we couldn’t have asked for a better finish from our girls.”

Sims was pleased with how her team handled the meet, which was Austin’s ninth straight appearance at state.

“They approached the day positively and with a lot of confidence and enthusiasm,” she said. “We are very proud to be a state finalist and fourth in the state.”

Sartell-St. Stevens finished fifth and Benilde-St. Margarets was sixth.
