EDITORIAL: Students deserve credit for thinking outside the box

Thinking outside the box is something we need to do more often. It can be especially productive in government, at work and even with our families.

Austin High School students are doing their share of it lately as members of the AHS chapter of Delta Epsilon Chi are planning a dance at the Elks Club this Saturday, with proceeds benefiting Haitian relief.

Students from any high school are welcome, and music is being donated by Imagery Sound in Austin.

Other businesses have also pledged to support the event — Games People Play is printing and donating tee-shirts, while the Elks Club is donating the space.

Businesses interested in donating can contact 219-7978.

While a dance for Haiti probably isn’t an appropriate event for local, state or national government, it’s this kind of fresh and innovative thinking that our legislators should do more often.
