David Rawn

David Allen Rawn, 59, of Lyle, Minn. died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at his son’s home in Eden Prairie surrounded by his loving family.
David was born July 26, 1950 in Austin, the son of Lewis and Wilma (Sutton) Rawn. David’s mother died when he was a small child and he was raised by his grandmother, Clara Rawn. He graduated from the Lyle High School and was married to Sheryl Ludwig in Estherville, Iowa. David trained and worked as a chef before going to work in the building and grounds department of St. Olaf Hospital/Austin Medical Center in Austin. He was also the sixth generation to farm the Rawn family farm in rural Lyle. In recent years, David and Sheryl opened and operated Laser Lane Engraving, located in Austin and more recently at the family farm in Lyle.
David was a member of St Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, Iowa, where he served on the church council and enjoyed cooking for the “fish fry” events at the church. He was an animal lover and volunteer with the humane society as well as enjoyed woodworking. David possessed a great love for his family, which has led to a close and strongly bonded family.
David was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lewis Rawn, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Rawn, Lyle, Minn.; sons and families, David and Pam Rawn and their children Kya and Nicholas of Champlain, Minn.; Jason (Jake) and Renee Rawn and son Michael; sister-in-law; Sherry Rawn, Osage, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville, Iowa. Interment will be at Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, Minn. Friends may call at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday morning.
