The Blooming Prairie wrestling team had six place-winners but none of them made it to state at the Section 2A individual tournament in St. Clair Saturday.

Seth Johnson took third at 130 pounds, while Aaron Niles (145) and Pat Hjelmen (285) each took fourth.

“Niles had a great career and he was in one of the toughest weight classes,” BP head coach Kevin Driessen said. “He beat the eventual champion last week and if we wrestled a different weekend we’d probably have different results, but that’s how it worked out.”

Driessen said that the six place-winners is the most his team has had in quite some time.

“It’s a step up for BP and we’ll graduate just two of those guys,” he said.

Jared Grunklee (171) was fifth for BP, while Riley Young (135) and Blake Arett (189) were sixth.
