Austin grad Faber playing well for Blugolds women’s hockey team

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women’s hockey player Kristin Faber, a junior from Austin, has been selected as this week’s Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) player of the week for her four-point weekend in a split with UW-Stevens Point, conference sports information director Brian Monahan announced Tuesday.

Earlier this season, Faber set a new UW-EC record for most points in a career and she also has the school record for most points and goals in a season.

Faber, a 2007 Austin grad, is leading the Blugolds this season in goals (19) and she is second on the team with 14 assists.

Taylor Jenkins, a 2008 Austin grad, has seven goals and six assists for UW-EC (10-8-3 overall).

In men’s hockey, Austin grad Tim Kirby has four goals and 11 assists for Air Force Academy (12-12-6 overall).

Kirby is fifth on the team in points.

Anna Hebrink, a 2007 Austin grad, is averaging 6.9 points, 4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game for the Bemidji State women’s basketball team (12-10 overall).

Hebrink scored 17 points with 3 steals while hitting all four of her threes in the Beavers’ 70-63 win over St. Cloud State University Saturday, Feb. 6.

Tina Vorphal, a 2009 Austin grad, has played in nine games for the St. Thomas women’s basketball team (16-5 overall) this season. She’s scored five points and grabbed three rebounds in limited minutes.

Hayfield grad Leslie Wilson is averaging 4.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals while hitting 60 percent of her field goals for the Knights (16-6 overall).
