Coaches vs. Cancer is coming to Austin High School on Thursday when the Austin girls basketball team hosts Rochester John Marshall at 7:30 p.m.

Raising donations for the Mower County Relay for Life, Austin head coach Gary Peterson has announced that the Austin girls will turn the gym pink, wearing pink laces, ribbons and t-shirts for this game.

Among the fundraising activities taking place in Austin are a “Pink Out” day during school and at the game; pink leather basketballs for the game; pink donation buckets at concession stands and a halftime shootout.

The event is supported by Austin Youth Basketball Association, who will have 40 girls from grades four through eight participating in the events of the evening and volunteers from Mower County Relay for Life, who will be selling luminaries to be displayed in August at the Relay for Life.

All proceeds from Austin’s Coaches vs. Cancer will be donated to the 17th Annual Mower County Relay for Life, scheduled for August 7-8 at Veteran’s Pavillion in Austin.
