Sellers Lock & Key officially took over Lees Lock & Security Service last week.

Jeff Sellers, who opened Sellers Lock & Key in June of 2008, described the move as a great way to end a strong 2009, one which finished with a nomination for business of the year.

He also said that “honest hard work” has been the key to his successful business.

“We’re prepared to be out there 24-7,” Jeff Sellers said.

“I work until the work is done,” he added.

As part of the deal, Sellers Lock & Key took over Lees Lock & Security’s commercial accounts. The rates changed to match Sellers’ costs, but he said they’re comparable to previous costs.

Sellers Lock & Key also purchased much of Lees Lock & Security’s equipment. Sellers said the move allows him to expand the services he offers. He’s training to work with safes and different kinds of residential locks.

Art Nelson, former owner of Lees Lock & Security, said he made the move because of the poor economy. Nelson also owns Art’s Parts, a store that sells various products online, and he said the move allows him to donate more time to that business.

While Sellers is the only employee at his business, he said he’s training someone who may be hired as a second employee. Another employee may start working under the Sellers Lock & Key name in Owatonna.
