The Blue Devils men’s basketball team fought all the way back with a chance to win or tie, but they couldn’t convert in a 75-70 loss at Anoka-Ramsey Wednesday.

RCC (8-9 overall, 1-1 MCAC South) trailed 44-34 at the break but they pulled to within 72-70 with 18 seconds left and they had the ball, but a turnover ended their chance at a comeback.

It was one of 20 turnovers for RCC, while A-R (7-9 overall, 1-1 MCAC South) had just nine turnovers with a guard-heavy lineup.

“They played all guards. They could penetrate and they hit some big shots,” RCC assistant coach Scott Koenigs said.

The Blue Devils out-rebounded A-R 44 to 27 and Josh Davis pulled down 10 boards to go with his 11 points, but RCC couldn’t get over the hump.

“We battled back all night, but they would always respond,” Koenigs said. “It was a good effort.”

RCC scoring: AJ Kortz, 16; Derek Hahn, 11; Josh Davis, 11; Taylor Morgan, 10; Brian Voigt, 9; Khirey Floyd, 8; Elimane Diallo, 4; Richard Burch, 1; free throws: 72 percent (13-for-18)
