Rayma Christianson

Rayma Arliene Christianson, 88, of Austin, died at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010. 
She was born June 25, 1921 to Ormanzo and Mabel (Thompson) Peterson in Udolpho Township, Mower County, Minn. where she grew up and attended school. After graduation from Blooming Prairie High School, Rayma attended Austin Normal School and earned her teaching degree. She married Arnold R. Christianson on July 29, 1945 at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, rural Austin. They raised five children and were married for more than 64 years. A member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Rayma was part-time Director of Sunday School, enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafts. She was also active in Cub Scouts and decorated and catered wedding cakes.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold of Austin; children, Marcia Christianson of West Bend, Wis., Larry Christianson of Austin, Randy (Liz Wolff) Christianson of Austin, Jeanne (Timothy) Hutchins of Faribault, James Christianson of Austin; six grandchildren, Bonnie, Nicole, Candace, John, Samantha, Katie; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Berniece Hines of Blooming Prairie; Joyce Trom of Blooming Prairie; Darlene (Robert) Jones of Decorah, Iowa; brother, Francis (Marge) Peterson of Spooner, Wis.; sister-in-law, Louise Peterson of Blooming Prairie; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, three brothers and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery, rural Austin. Memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin.
