Adeline Cecilia Hanson, 83, of Austin died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at her home.
Adeline was born March 31, 1926 in Lodi Township, Minn. to Matt and Mary (Heimer) Schaefer. On June 20, 1952 she was united in marriage to John E. Hanson at Rose Creek. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2002. 
Adeline was a retired employee of Hormel Foods. Her family always came first. She loved children and animals, going gambling with her family and friends, and was always willing to help the less fortunate.
Survivors include her children, Dan Hanson, Austin, John Jr. (Christine) Hanson, Lakeville, Michael Hanson, Austin, Barb (Dean) Mattick, Austin; seven grandchildren, Ethan Hanson, John Hanson III, Melissa Hanson, Robert Hanson, Amanda Mattick, Cassandra Mattick, Isabel Mattick; siblings, Florence Lee, Austin, Bernice Malaczewski, Milwaukee, Wis., Don Schaefer, Norman, Okla., Dave Schaefer, Austin, Richard (Joyce) Schaefer, Baudette, Lucille (Harry) Hanson, Austin, Duane (Jan) Schaefer, Rose Creek; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Mary Schaefer.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. There will be a 6 p.m. wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to7 p.m. and also from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at Mayer Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The honorary casket bearer will be Greg Schaefer. The casket bearers will be Jim Hanson, Keith Hanson, Ron Lee, Dean Schaefer, Dick Schaefer Jr., Mike Bibus.
