Marjorie Mathews

Marjorie Alice (Colling) Mathews, 85, died on Tuesday Dec. 1, 2009 at the Sacred heart Care Center, Austin.

Marjorie was born in Freedom, Neb. on April 8, 1924 to Leo and Harriet Lela (Hume) Colling. She spent her childhood in Indianola, Neb. and graduated from Indianola High School in 1941. She spent two years in the Navy during World War II and was married to Alvah Mathews in 1946 in Oberlin, Kans. They spent most of their married life of 59 years living in Pocatello, Idaho. She belonged to the Grace Lutheran church in Pocatello.

She is survived by her brother, Leslie Colling of Austin and sister in law, Louise (Mathews) Harris of Jameson Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alvah; three sisters, Harriet Filz, Helen Swaim, and Mary Ann Aman; and brother Lowell Colling.

Her ashes will be interned next to her husband’s ashes at Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello, Idaho.
Memorials can be sent to Grace Lutheran Church in Pocatello, Idaho.
