Ethelyn Blanche Hahn, 90, of Austin died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester.
She was born Jan. 26, 1919 in rural Dodge County, Minn. to Eric and Bertha (Brekke) Himle.
Ethelyn married Joseph Hahn on Dec. 27, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield. Ethelyn worked at Hormel for 38 years in the Dairy Pack and Gelatin Depts. In her spare time, Ethelyn enjoyed sewing, playing cards, dancing, traveling, doing yard work and shopping. She also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Lake Mazaska in the Faribault area. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; brother, Earl Himle; sister, Ellen Fjerstad; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred (Fred) Alford; sister, Jane Lepeska; a brother and a sister died in infancy.
Ethelyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary (Bruce) Erickson, Austin; grandchildren, Harley (Abby) Erickson, Sauk Rapids, Minn., Levi (Leah) Erickson, Austin, Emily Erickson, Austin; great-grandchildren, Zack Wiste, Azi Erickson, and Eli Erickson; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel (Norm) Pearson, Rochester, Minn.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Olgar (Judy) Himle, Austin, Lee (Carol) Himle, Spring Valley, Minn.; sister-in-law, Gloria Himle, Hutchinson, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Harvey Fjerstad, Austin, Minn., Jim Lepeska, Minnetonka, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kristi Koppel officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
Honorary Bearers will be grandchildren, Harley & Abby, Levi & Leah, and Emily; great-grandchildren, Azi, and Eli and Zack. Special honorary bearer will be Julie Knotts.
Casket Bearers will be Wayne Fjerstad, Gary Pearson, David Alford, Paul Lepeska, Todd Himle, Steven Himle, and John Himle.
