State Rep. Randy Demmer is taking a second stab at winning Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District.

Demmer, a Republican from Hayfield, planned to officially enter the congressional race Tuesday. He confirmed Monday that he was entering the campaign to unseat Democratic Rep. Tim Walz.

Demmer sought the GOP nomination in 2008, but dropped out when area Republicans endorsed another candidate. Demmer later won his fourth term to his state House seat.
