The Packers girls basketball team continued their offensive woes in a 60-37 loss to Red Wing in Ove Berven Gym Wednesday.

Austin (1-6 overall) shot just 17 percent from the field and it missed all six of its three-point shots in the loss. It was the fifth time this season the Packers failed to score at least 50 points.

“You’ve got to have someone you can depend on for scoring,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said.

The Wingers (9-1 overall) jumped out to an 11-0 lead as they scored on a couple of put-back hopes early in the game.

“We were making them miss, but not blocking them out,” Peterson said. “Red Wing’s got a good team and they’ve got everybody back from last year.”

After trailing by as many as 20, the Packers pulled to within 29-15 before the break as Jenna Svoboda hit a pair of free throws and Sophia Hebrink scored on a put-back.

The Wingers were led by freshman guard Tesha Buck, who had 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
