The Austin boys hockey team dropped its season opener 5-2 to Marshall Saturday in Austin.

Cameron O’Connor and Marcus Stoulil scored goals for the Packers, who are back on the ice Thursday at Fairmont for a 7 p.m. game.

Austin finished Saturday’s contest with 33 shots on goal.

“I am very proud of how we played today,” Austin coach Tim Peterson said. “We battled the whole game, and we had our chances. We just didn’t finish on some of those chances.”
