Leona Larson

Leona T. Larson, 93, of Austin died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009 at Sacred Heart Care Center.

Leona was born March 15, 1916 in Festina, Iowa to Herman and Amelia (Eimers) Bullerman. She married Myrle J. Larson and they were married for 65 years. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2006. 

Leona was a homemaker who loved her son and daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always available to help when needed and enjoyed attending their outside activities. Leona and Myrle loved to travel and enjoyed fishing in Northern Minnesota, especially around Park Rapids, with the family. Family was very important to both of them. Leona also loved to cook, garden and crochet. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Karen Larson, Austin; two grandchildren, Mark and Wanda Larson, Mantorville, Lynn and Brian Roberts, Robbinsdale; five great-grandchildren, Sara Roberts, Bayle Roberts, Lindsay Larson, Nick Larson, and Katie Larson; a sister, Maggie Numedahl, Decorah, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Amelia and Herman; sisters, Irene, Frances, and Bernadine; brothers, Edwin and Adolph.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at Sacred Heart Care Center with Father Donald Zenk officiating.  There will be a 5 p.m. wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at Sacred Heart Care Center on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
