John Perry

John E. “Bud” Perry, 81, of Austin died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

He was born Aug. 10, 1928 in Austin to Del and Lurenne (Strommer) Perry. Bud graduated from Austin High School and was married to Carol Lee on June 18, 1950 in Austin. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. John was a barber and had worked with his father at Perry’s Barbershop and later worked for the Hormel Foods Corporation. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the Elks Club, Austin Eagles and the American Legion.

Bud liked spending time with Scott and Kaye and their family and he also enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Johnny’s, pheasant hunting and playing cards, boating and bowling.

 John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kaye  Perry, Austin;  grandsons, Adam Perry, Austin, Bryan  Perry, Austin; granddaughter, Jenae Perry, Austin; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Darlene (Doo) Perry, Lansing, Minn.;  Scott’s brother,  Bob Penney, Hew Hope, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Beulah Halland, Milaca, Minn., Betty Lee, St. Cloud, Minn., Phyllis Lee, Big Lake, Minn.; Gene and Alice  Brennan, Austin; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Carol.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin with Austin Post #91 American Legion in charge of military rites. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Casket Bearers will be Dan Halland, Jeff Watkins, Steve Perry, Dave Smith, John Deyo and Jim Anderson.

Honorary Casket Bearer will be Bill Schubert.
