Dean Rolfson

Dean Francis Rolfson, 79, of Austin died Sunday evening, Nov. 8, 2009, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center. 

He was born Aug. 22, 1930 to Earl and Angela (Guiney) Rolfson in Mower County where he grew up and attended District 42 country school. After attending Austin High School, he worked on the family farm until he got married and went to work for Sheedy Dairy. He worked there for 18 years. He was circulation manager here in Austin for the St. Paul Pioneer Press for 21 years. Interested in agriculture, Dean helped many neighbors farm. When he was able, he helped many friends and neighbors with transportation to doctor appointments and general errands. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed horse shows and trips to Branson. He moved to Comforcare in August.

Survivors include his children, Kathy (Lawrence) Pieper of Rose Creek, Vicky Williamson of Atlanta, Georgia, Larry (Gloria) Rolfson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sherry Suess of Minneapolis, Troy (Jackie) Rolfson of Lakeland, Fla., Shelly Riach of Lakeville, Jayne Gibson of Austin; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; special friend, Gloria White of Mapleview; a sister-in-law, Ordella Rolfson of Austin; and one brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one brother, Kenneth; and special friend, Jim.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.
