The owner of Adams’ famed Bubbles Cafe is $20,000 richer.
Well, almost $20,000 richer.
Janet “Bubbles” Heller won the grand prize in a Catholic Schools Raffle put on by the Catholic Aid Association.
The statewide drawing was held Oct. 30 and raised $128,575 for Minnesota Catholic school students.
The grand prize winner had the choice of $20,000 or a 2010 Ford Edge SUV.
Heller took the money, which came by way of a check minus the taxes.
“I’m excited,” said Heller, who said she will celebrate by buying some type of diamonds for herself. “I can’t believe it, and everyone is excited in the Adams area. I love it.”
There were more than two dozen other winners, with some winning a Brainerd vacation, a 32-inch flat screen TV or an iPod shuffle.
There were six winners in all from the Sacred Heart Catholic School in Adams, including Bubbles, one TV winner and four iPod winners.
The Sacred Heart School raised the fourth-most money in the raffle by selling 2,006 tickets for a total of $10,030.
All of those funds will go back to the school.
