The Packer boys soccer team moved on in the Section 1A playoffs with a 3-1 win over Winona Cotter at Art Hass Stadium Thursday.

No. 2 seeded Austin (12-5 overall) took a 2-0 lead into halftime after Jacob Brehmer scored on an assist by Will Darling and Martin Manocchio added another goal with five minutes left in the half.

“We moved the ball pretty well and we put it in the net when we needed to,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said.

Seventh seeded Cotter (10-7-2 overall) pulled to within a goal when they scored to make it 2-1. But Austin allowed just three shots on goal all night, while attempting 22 themselves.

“The ball wasn’t on our defensive end very much tonight,” Levisen said.

Peter Lindahl scored with 12 seconds left in the match to put it away for the Packers.

Ryan Rasell had two saves for Austin, which will now host No. 3 seeded Byron (19-1 overall) in the Section 1A semifinals Monday at 7 p.m. at Art Hass Stadium.

The winner of that match will play in Rochester Friday at 7 p.m.
