LETTER: Vote yes Nov. 3
Published 7:23 am Wednesday, October 14, 2009
As long time Austin residents and parents of three school aged children, we appreciate the value our community has consistently put on quality education for all students. Many organizations, businesses, parents and citizens contribute considerable time, effort and finances to Austin Public Schools.
However, because of the recent school finance freeze from the State of Minnesota, our district could soon be in a situation where we will be unable to maintain current class sizes and course offerings. These changes would have a negative effect directly on the teaching/learning processes.
To avoid such an unfortunate situation, in addition to improving efficiencies and scrutinizing each dollar spent, we encourage a yes vote on the upcoming operating levy referendum. Let’s continue the Austin community’s tradition of investing in our future…our children. Vote yes Nov. 3, 2009.
