Storm Draayer’s wait is finally over.

After two years of anticipation, the 11-year old from Austin is finally going to compete in the world power lifting championships in Reno, Nevada.

Draayer will compete in the 13 and under division, so he will be one of the younger lifters there. His dad, Christian, said he should be competitive in the dead lift and he will get valuable experience in the bench press.

“He’s been psyched for this for about two years,” Christian Draayer said. “We’re kind of throwing him in the fire.”

Draayer is a 10-time state champ, taking home six titles from Iowa, and two from Minnesota and Wisconsin.

He will be competing in the 148-pound division on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Draayer is a sixth grader at Ellis Middle School and he trains at T.J.’s Gym in Austin. He also swims and wrestles.
