Colorful scenes of Minnesota are now on display.

The Mary Lingen Landscapes exhibit is open in the James Wegner Art Gallery on the West Campus of Riverland Community College.

Minnesota landscapes have been the subject of Lingen’s oil paintings for close to 20 years.

Lingen graduated from Augsburg College in St. Paul with a bachelor of arts degree in studio art in 1981. Since then her work has been shown in more than 30 states.

“She has had more than 30 solo exhibits and numerous group and juried exhibitions,” said Tim Jones, Riverland art instructor and gallery director.

The gallery will feature 18 of Lingen’s original paintings, Jones said. The paintings will also be available for purchase, with the average price near $1,000.

Lingen is a full-time artist who keeps her studio in a cabin on a 10-acre woodland property near Backus, Minn.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 27.

There will be a reception and public talk at noon on the final day.

James Wegner Art Gallery, 1900 Eighth Ave. N.W., features a mix of student, community and professional work. Lingen’s work is the only exhibit showing in the gallery. Admission is free of charge, and the gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
