The Austin boys soccer team found a way to rally to a 3-1 win over Albert Lea on the road Thursday.

After the Tigers (2-5 overall, 0-4 Big Nine) seized a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the match, the Packers responded with three goals over the last 20 minutes of the opening half to take a 3-1 lead to the break.

“We started slow, but we responded relatively quickly and we got the ball rolling,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said.

Freshman Francisco jump-started the Packers (4-2 overall, 2-2 Big Nine) with a goal off a Henry Darling assist with 19 minutes left in the half. Jacob Brehmer added the next to scores with assists coming from Torres and Rolando Rubio.

The goal flurry was big for an Austin team that struggled scoring earlier in the season.

“The guys know that they’re playing good soccer and this is pay-off for all of their hard work,” Levisen said.

The Packers had 17 shots on goal, while Ryan Rasell had three saves.

Austin will host Pine Island at Art Hass Stadium at noon Saturday.
