The Pacelli, Blooming Prairie and Hayfield cross country teams all competed in the Stewartville Invite Thursday.

Pacelli’s lone varsity runner was Michael Bergstrom who shaved 40 seconds off his time from last year to get a time of 20:41 and finish 60th.

“Michael put in a pretty good summer of running and was not satisfied with his time or place,” Pacelli head coach Jim Parlin said. “I feel that we will continue to see him improve his times throughout the year.”

Adam Driessen took 16th for the Blooming Prairie boys, who took sixth out of 21 teams.

“Adam led the team in his first career cross country meet,” BP head coach John Bruns said. “This group will get better and better as the year goes on.”

Nathan Conroy of Hayfield took fourth out of 109 runners in the boys’ race and Mike Kuehn was ninth as the Vikings took seventh.

The BP girls took 10th as a team and eighth grader Kendra Boecker took 22nd overall.

“Kendra Boecker was a nice surprise leading the team with a 23rd place finish,” Bruns said. “Kelcie Driessen also improved her time by almost three minutes from last year at this meet. We should be very competitive as the season goes on.”

The Hayfield girls took seventh as Courtney Severson finished 18th.

The boys race was 5,000 meters and the girls race was 4,000 meters.

In the JV race, Pacelli’s Logan Finnegan and Annie Holtz each took second.
