Dennis Lawrence “Doc” O’Connor, 57, of Austin, passed away unexpectedly at his home Sept. 1, 2009.
Dennis was born June 29, 1952 in Austin to Lawrence and Viola (Harrington) O’Connor. He graduated from Austin High School in 1970. Dennis was active in the drum and bugle corps and band. He was in the Lancer’s drum and bugle corps and the St. Paul Scouts.
Dennis graduated from Bemidji State University with a B.S. degree in mass communications and business. His passions were gardening and music. He was a strong advocate for battered women and the homeless.
For many years, Dennis promoted a variety of bands for Marsh Productions and later he owned Thumbs Up Productions.
Survivors include his mother, Viola, Austin; siblings, Joseph (Sharon), Duluth, Nancy (Joe) Rasmussen, Lakeville, Shawn (Brenda), Austin, Peggy (Jim) Cummings, Austin, Tamara, Austin, Timothy (Barb), Savage; 22 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence, and his brother, Steven.
A visitation will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at Mayer Funeral Home with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
