LETTER: It’s not acceptable to most Americans

Published 2:17 pm Saturday, August 15, 2009

Our President said during the campaign that he would make the passage of the Freedom of Choice Act one of his priorities. That act would remove almost all of the restrictions on abortion. We haven’t heard much about the Freedom of Choice Act because it is now a part of the “health care” package.

That package includes the unrestricted “woman’s right to reproductive health care” — a euphamism for “abortion on demand.” During his speech at Notre Dame University he also said that the strong should not take advantage of the weak, and in his inaugural address that, “We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.” Our founding documents include “the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” as truths that are “self evident.”

Pray that our senators and congressmen will have the courage to do what is right and in the best interests of our nation. Debate proposed legislation so that all facets are clear and understood. Rushing health care legislation seems to indicate a hidden agenda not acceptable to most Americans.
