EDITORIAL: It’s a job well done for VFW ball players

On Sunday, the players of Austin’s VFW Post 1216 baseball team did something an Austin VFW team hasn’t done since 1973.
They won a state title.
The team finished the season 30-6, faced heavy competition and beat White Bear Lake 5-3 in St. Cloud Sunday to clinch it.
It was a team effort for the squad that includes 10 Austin players and another 10 from other towns. It’s also only Austin’s second ever VFW title.
We congratulate the VFW Post 1216 baseball team on the win, and we are proud of their accomplishments.
