Warren Rector

Warren Edward Rector, age 85, of Austin, died peacefully early Friday morning, July 3, 2009 when he went to be with his Savior.  
He was born Aug. 2, 1923 to Clarence and Anne (Anderson) Rector in Minneapolis.  The family moved to Austin where Warren grew up and attended school, graduating from Austin High School in 1941. He joined the Navy on Jan. 26, 1943.  He maintained boats in Hawaii and was honorably discharged on Jan. 17, 1946.  He was confirmed by Pastor Arthur L. Schultz in 1950.  After nine years as a fireman for Milwaukee Road, Warren went to work for Hormel Foods.  
He married Lorene Meyer on June 27, 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Henning, Minn.  Warren retired in 1985 and delivered motor homes part time.  A member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, he enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene of Austin; daughters, Leann (Robert) Becker of Eagan, Susan (Al) Kowalke of Woodbury; son, Bruce Rector of New York City, New York; four grandchildren, Marisa and Alexandra Becker, Erin and Sara Kowalke; brother, Richard (Joan) Rector of Corpus Christi, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Warren Schmidt officiating.  Friends may call at the church from 9:30 to 11 a.m.  Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.  Worlein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  The family prefers memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
