Hayfield’s Hey Days celebration begins Friday

It turns 22 this year.

Hayfield’s Hey Days celebration kicks off Friday with the Viking Pride golf tournament at 10 a.m. and is packed with events through Sunday.

New this year are the Budweiser Clydesdale horses, which have been in town since Monday and can be viewed throughout the weekend at the Main Street parking lot.

The Clydesdales will also be featured in the grand parade, which starts at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Friday

10 a.m. — Viking Pride 4 Person Big Cup Golf Tournament, Oaks Country Club

5 to 10 p.m. — Carnival opens ( rides, games and food)

6:30 p.m. — Bingo — American Legion

7:30 p.m. — Miss Hey Days Scholarship Pageant — Hayfield High School

9 to 11:30 p.m. — Teen dance, Hayfield High School

8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. — On stage, “The Underachievers” (a six act show, 18+ only, wristband required).

Saturday

8 a.m. — 5K Family Walk/Run, city park

8 a.m. — Softball tournament, city pool

8 a.m. — Volleyball tournament, city park

11:30 a.m. — Princess party, Memorial Park

12 p.m. — Kids bingo, American Legion

1 p.m. to 10 p.m. — Carnival open, wristband day (1 to 6 p.m.)

1 p.m. — Horseshoe tournament

1 p.m. — Mud Boggs (wristband required for spectators)

2 p.m. — Kids Pedal Pulls

3 to 5 p.m. — Ole Tyme Music by “Rush Hour,” American Legion

6:30 p.m. —Bingo, American Legion

8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. — On stage, “Next 2 Nothing” (21+ only, wristband required)

Sunday

8 a.m. — Softball/volleyball tournaments continue

11 a.m. — Community Worship Service, Memorial park, Main Street

12 p.m. — Meal catered by Uncle Monys following worship

1 to 9 p.m. — Carnival open

2 p.m. — Grand parade

3 p.m. — Balloon release, Veterans Memorial Park

3 p.m. — Circus Monkey Show — Veterans Memorial Park

3 to 7 p.m. — Music by “Rush Hour,” American Legion.

4 p.m. — Bean bag tournaments

8 p.m. — Johnny Bird DJ and Karaoke at Marvs Bar & Grill

At dusk (roughly 9 p.m.) — Fireworks, Hayfield High School parking lot

“The main focus is to be family oriented and to hit all age groups the best as we can,” said Lana Mindrup, president for the Hayfield Celebrations Committee, the group which organizes Hey Days.
