William J. Engel, 70
William John Engel, 70, of Austin, died on June 3, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital.
William (Bill) was born on May 29, 1939 in Austin to (Wenzel) Donald Engel and Dorothy Kulzer. Bill married Betty Hemmer June 1, 1963. Together they shared 46 years of marriage. They shared a joyous life together as they raised their two children, Thomas Engel and Deborah (Engel) Petersen. Bill was a well-respected business man, husband, father and grandfather. He started his own oil business in the 1970s, from there in the 1990s he owned a travel agency for a short time. He then moved to Las Vegas and began his Realtor career. In 2002 he moved back to Austin to continue his career as a Realtor for Sterling Real Estate.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Thomas (Paige Brandt); daughter, Deborah (Michael) Petersen and three lovely granddaughters, Lauryn Petersen, McKena Petersen and Josie Engel. He is also survived by his brother, David (Mary) Engel; sisters, Joan Patterson, Margaret Gruzkowski, Virginia (David) Larson and brother, Thomas (Maggie) Engel; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, (Wenzel) Donald Engel, and mother, Dorothy (Kulzer) Engel.
Funeral will be held Saturday June 6, 2009 at St. Augustine Catholic church at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation before the funeral at 9:30 a.m.
