Wesley E. “Gene” Meyer, 75
Wesley Eugene “Gene” Meyer, 75, of rural Waltham, died Monday, June 1, 2009 at his home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1933 to William Frank “W.F.” and Clara Christina (Peterson) Meyer in Waltham Township, Minn. where he grew up. He attended parochial Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Austin High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from January 1955 until 1957. He was stationed in California, where he remained after an honorable discharge, working at the Los Angeles Times until he returned to Minnesota to take over the family farm. He lived and worked there until retirement. Wesley enjoyed shopping, driving and attending farm shows.
Survivors include his brother, Norman (Marlys) Meyer, Nisswa, Minn.; six nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Waltham, with Pastor Jeff Kuddes officiating. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Waltham, at 9:30 a.m. Thursday with flag presentation by American Legion Post 91. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is in charge of arrangements.
