Robert Thomson

Robert Allan Thomson, 49, formerly of Austin, died unexpectedly of a heart condition in Haltom City, Texas, on April 9, 2009.
Bob was born on Aug. 8, 1959 in Austin to Carlton and Muriel (Glenna) Thomson. In 1977 he graduated from Immanuel Lutheran High School in Eau Claire, Wis.
He married Kathy Lau on March 10, 1979. Bob and Kathy started their life together in Minnesota and Wisconsin before making Texas their home in the mid 1980s. Bob worked as mechanic most of his life eventually owning Thomson Auto Service in Haltom City. Bob loved spending time with his granddaughters. He also enjoyed playing pool with his wife and friends. He was a huge sports fan but above all he was dedicated to the Minnesota Vikings.
Bob is survived by his wife, Kathy Thomson, North Richland Hills, Texas; two daughters, Janelle (Brisco) Sumrall, Killeen, Texas; Laura (Justin Sherrill) Thomson, Aurora, Colo.; five granddaughters: Vidalia, Alia, and Elara Thomson of Killen, Texas, and twins, Brittany and Ashley Sherrill, Aurora; parents, Carlton and Muriel Thomson, Austin; brothers, Jim (Pat) Thomson, Glendale, Wis., John (Sarah) Thomson, Burnsville, Minn.; sister, Barb (Todd) Anderson, Austin; father and mother-in-law, John and Dorothy Lau, Eau Claire; brother-in-law, John Lau, Eau Claire; six nephews, four nieces, three great-nieces and one great-nephew; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents; a sister, Patricia; and a brother, David.
A graveside service will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Austin on Friday June 19, 2009 at 4 p.m. with Pastor David Fleischmann officiating. Visitation was held on April 13, 2009 at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel, North Richland Hills, Texas.
