Libbie A. (Mrs. Jimmie) Levy, 95
Libbie Agnes (Mrs. Jimmie) Levy, 95, formerly of Austin, passed away June 6, 2009 at the Cedarview Care Center, Owatonna.
Libbie was born Nov. 1, 1913 to John and Mary Votava in Linwood, Neb. She attended country school and high school in Stirum, N.D., and continued her education to receive a certificate for rural teaching and business. Libbie married Jimmie Levy in September 1940. Together they raised two children, Larry and Lyndel. They farmed southeast of Austin and the farm was truly a family effort. There were many memorable family summer trips, and winters spent in Texas. The neighbors were a real sense of joy and many became lifelong friends. Libbie enjoyed old time music, barn dances, going fishing, playing canasta and telling jokes. She always looked forward to her family’s visits.
Survivors include her daughter, Lyndel (Ken) Finholdt, Owatonna, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Meridee Levy, Columbia, Md.; grandchildren, Eric (Angie) Finholdt, Nate (Ariana) Finholdt, Todd (Erin) Finholdt, Allison (Rob) Benson; great-grandchildren, Ben, Zach, Kaden, Karsen, Hailey, Riley and Ella Finholdt, Jesse and Faith Benson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie, on Aug. 25, 1978; son, Larry on April 21, 2008; parents, John and Mary Votava.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Mayer Funeral Home with the Reverend Dale Christiansen officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and also one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Thursday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
